FRIAR TUCK MEMORY RUG

1998. 1 1/2' x 3'. Original. Cut no. 8. Recycled coat wool used "as is." I hooked this as a memory rug of my horse Friar Tuck and his award-winning shows. I wanted to hook flowers and animals without dyeing.

JACK-IN-THE-RED

1999. Original. Cut no. 6. 31" x 71". Recycled coat wool. Most of the wool was used "as is" except some spot dyes I created for the red and organ leaves. I used Seal Brown, Burgundy, Mahogany dyes sprinkled lightly over red, orange, and plaid fabrics. I dyed the center of the border too, first with tea and then with Seal Brown. Exhibitions: Sauder Village Traditional Rug Hooking Exhibition 1999. Awards: Featured in Celebration XI (1999) pp. 50-51.

Kodak Memory Rug

1998. Original. Cut no. 8. Recycled wool used "as is" except the blue background which was a turquoise coat spot-dyed with dark brown. I hooked this to remember Katie's stable where I boarded Kodak for a year before we moved to Bloomington, Illinois. I used the plaid because it reminded me of a horse blanket.
